Sample My Invitations?

                                  

Soooo, last weekend I was searching the interwebs for invitations that I thought would be cool, and interesting and unique, (just like Simon and I  :D), and I came across this website called Royal Steamline that does vintage-looking wedding invites.  I sent away for samples of my top three and this is what they look like.  My favorite is the the first one, all the way on the left, but I thought I would put them up here for you all to take a look at and give me your opinions as well!  It's kind of fun, and makes people feel like they're involved in the planning process, right?  So, if you have an opinion, or if you have other samples that you like the look of, just leave a comment and we'll discuss!  :)

The Dress

  

I realize, of course, that this post is a LONG time a- coming but I've been super busy what with working full time as well as trying to plan a wedding and stuff so :P.  I love this picture because it represents who me and my sisters and mom become when we're all together and enjoing each other's company.  Goof balls to the end, and I LOVE every precious moment of it!  This was taken the day we went dress shopping together several months back.  We decided to stop by the Vineyard (where the wedding is to be held) to check it out and of course do a little wine tasting before we headed over to the dress shop.  Good times, and I wish there were more moments like this more often.  Thank you ladies for making it such an amazing day!

Now, on to the dress shopping.....  Apparently, something like 80% of the time, the dress a bride picks ends up being the first one they tried on.  (According to my wedding dress helper, Jordan, anyway).  I happend to fall into that category, even though I tried on maybe 6 or 7 other dresses.  As soon as I put it on and opened the door to that dressing room and saw the looks on my family's faces, I knew.  It just. felt. RIGHT.  It was a truely amazing feeling.  As many of you know, I'm not really a "dress" kind of person, but this was absolutely an enlightened feeling, I can't even explain it properly.  Unfortunately though, I can't post a picture of it here on my blong because Simon's being "traditional" about it all and doesn't want to see it until the wedding day.  So, if any of you are interested in seeing a picture of just the dress, you'll have to email me and I'll send one along.  :) 

P.s.:  I still haven't tried it on yet, even though it's been hanging in my closet for a month!  I am absolutely DYING to try it on!  It looks unbelievable all made in the exact colors that I wanted.  :)

3 months, and counting people!  So much to do and not enough hours in the day.......

Work, work, work, work, work...........

I'm sitting here trying to think of a title for this particular Blog post and my mind wanders to a little movie called "Blazing Saddles" by Mel Brooks.  The particular scene that comes to mind is Mel Brooks at his desk being "forced" to sign a bunch of paper work as the Mayor of Rockridge and he's going on about how much work it is etc, etc. with his rather buxom "assistant" standing next to him. "Work, work, work, work, work, hello boys, have a good night's rest? I missed you!"  Oh that Mel Brooks does know how to make me laugh.  Anywho, so the reason why I gave this post that name in particular is because I guess I feel little bit like Mel Brooks in that scene.  It's a lot of work trying to plan a wedding, but it's a good kind of work to "have" to be doing.  In the last couple of weeks or so, I contacted a few wedding dj's and photographers and ended up narrowing it down to two of each, and set up interviews.  We decided on Mark at Music Man Event pros for our dj, and Josh and Melissa Mitchell at Continuum Photography.  I've also set up an experimental wedding website which you all can access at www.ec42.com/w.  The website is still in the midst of being "set up" so be patient with me.  I feel like we've got a decent amount of things accomplished but there's still a ton of stuff to get sorted out still.  I want to give props to my sister Angie for giving me the idea of getting a bunch of pictures of Simon and I from now until the wedding to put together into a slide show of sorts possibly for the wedding, we'll see.  There's a ton of stuff to sort out over the next several months so I'm sure there will be lots to blog about.  One of the next big things up on the list is the dress shopping, which should be interesting.  Stay tuned....... For now though, back to work work work work work!

Wedding Venue - SORTED!

Let the festivities BEGIN!  We went to our meeting with Steffi at Orfila Vineyards today and we knew pretty much right away, it was the place we wanted to have our wedding at!  It's almost like it was meant to be or something, the wedding coodinator lady's name is Steffi!  (my favorite tennis player's name is Steffi!  OMG! Right?!)  Okay, enough geeking out.  In all seriousness, both Simon and I are Super-Uber excited about finding the place where we're going to get married.  Everything is set in motion now and it's all downhill from here!  Woo Hoo!

Melbee Plans a Wedding

Well Friends, it's 2011 and Simon and I have been "officially" together for 8 years now and we've decided that we think we like each other enough to make it a life long sort of "thing".  I've started doing some planning, although not nearly enough of it apparently, up to this point. (According to all the "do-it-yourself wedding planning guide checklists" I'm WAY behind!)  Anywho, it wouldn't be me if I wasn't behind on something, right?  So, I've decided to blog about my wedding planning experiences this year, with pictures of course, so all of you can experience it with me!  Doesn't that sound like fun?! 

Over the past few weeks I've purchased several wedding magazines and books and stuff like that to help me plan this wedding and the first thing up on my "to do" list is to find a venue for our little shin-dig.  I've made a few phone calls and searched no end of wedding websites trying to find a place.  I've been turned down by two places so far, either because our party is too small for a Saturday or the date we've chosen is taken, THUMBS DOWN!  But today I've scheduled an appointment with Orfila Vineyards down in
Escondido, California with high hopes.  So keep your fingers crossed everyone.

As well as the venue being "top priority" my Mom is REALLY excited about the dress shopping.  She has offered to help pay for it and she's seems very keen to be buying one of her daughters a wedding dress, which I think is just adorable!  (miss you Ma!)  She's planning a trip out to California in May for a week or two and we'll be dress shopping fools whilst she's here, I'm sure.  My sister Jessica said she wants to crash the party, so hopefully we can get my other sister Angie in on the fun and it'll be just like "old times".  Us four gals out and about, listening to "Girls just wanna have fun" and making each other laugh all day long.  I'm pretty excited about the possibility of that actually, so let's make it happen ladies!

Alrighty, the times getting on today and I've got a meeting at 2:00pm about a possible wedding venue!  Wish me luck people.  I'll update you all later with another blog post with picutres of the place hopefully.

Technical Difficulties

Hey everyone, I haven't forgotten about posting pictures, I was pretty sick with a flu last week so I didn't get out very much, and now we're out here in England and I can't seem to upload pictures very well with the internet connection here.  I think you may have to wait until I get back home to see what we've been up to here.  :(

This cat came in to where I work and he was so super cute I couldn't help but take a bunch of pictures of him.... especially his extra toes-ies!!

Here's Simon on our fron stairs on Halloween night.  We bought tons of dry ice and made practically the whole block a foggy/misty fun house, and of course Simon dressed in his full Ren. Faire livery, he's so cute.  :)

Okay so, I haven't been keeping up with my promise to keep posting pictures.  My very poor excuse is that work has been keeping me busy and tired.  Most of all though it's just laziness, i'm sure.  So here it is.... I'm going to try a lot harder to make this happen.  And if i'm slacking off again, by all means please feel free to hassle me a bit to keep me in line.  :)

Anyway, a few weeks ago Simon and I went down to the Wild Animal Park in Oceanside, California.  We arrived there a bit late in the day so we only have a few hours to spend, but it was still very enjoyable.  Here's a picture of a female African elephant, she was beautiful.

Week 1

These will be the other two pictures for the first week of this project.  On the left is a picture of a bird house (obviously) in the backyard of Jackie's mom's house.  We went to a baby shower for Jackie and Jason there on Saturday, and I think it's a cool looking picture.  On the right you'll find a picture of most of us that went to Universal Studios on Sunday, minus me because I'm taking the picture.  I like it because they're all doing something a little goofy like, which is what my family are all about!  I love it!
